Plastic Flowers

You can call me a floral convert!  My new found love of blooms continues with this simple, yet bold ensemble.  I first saw these beautiful pegged trousers, while I was on the hunt for new clothing for work.  Those that know me, know that for my daytime gig as a makeup artist, I have to wear head to toe black.  At first I scrolled past them.  But I kept thinking about them and knew they deserved a second look.  As of late I’ve been trying to make a commitment to myself, that for every few black work pieces I pick up, I will splurge on colour for the blog, and you know - my off duty life.  Variety, the spice of life after all.  And what better way to indulge than with a collage floral print on a blush pink background!

To me these trousers have an eclectic vibe.  The graphic black stripes within the floral print, gives a little more interest to an otherwise mature floral aesthetic.  And considering the pegged cut and paper bag styling, these pants could fall under the category of basic, if not for the bold print choice.

To root the look I paired the trousers with a simple black tee.  With only a small twist on the cold shoulder trend, the tee doesn’t pull focus from the pant.  But to really bring home the ‘business woman with an edge’ feel, I topped everything off with a gold and vinyl tote, plastic neon loafers and a little pop of opal in the earrings.

To me this a casual business look, a fab brunch with the girls outfit, or a date night get up that can take you anywhere.  And the best part, it’s easy and comfortable, without much effort - perfect for this heat wave!
